BMW's X3M/X4M intake setup, while awkward at first glance, is a very well-engineered system in the available space. The flow path from the filters to the turbo intakes is very direct and does not change direction as abruptly as the usual OEM airbox designs. So instead of a complete redesign, we focused on improving the OEM airbox with less restrictive flow and better temperature efficiency.

We have developed replacement drop-in filters made from non-woven mesh that have a much higher flow rate than stock paper filters. To help reduce inlet air temperatures and force air into the airbox, we have designed large front intake scoops that sit behind the grills. The carbon intake scoops channel air into the ducts and effectively reduce restriction on the inlet side of the airbox. The final piece is the carbon airbox cover which, although it doesn't add performance, allows for a more audible induction sound and gives the engine bay a much needed cosmetic upgrade.
The Eventuri X3M/X4M intake system is made up of a series of components designed to perform a specific purpose and manufactured to the highest standards. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:
Each suction system consists of:
CARBON AIRBOX COVER
The Prepreg Carbon Fiber Airbox Cover has been recreated using the same dimensions as the OEM version. There is minimal clearance above the cover to increase the size and doing so would also interrupt the airflow path. So we kept the dimensions the same and kept the flow path direct to the filters. Since the cover is made of carbon, it is thinner and lighter than the stock cover and therefore the engine induction sound is more audible.
HIGH FLOW FILTERS
We have redesigned the OEM panel filters using a high flow non-woven filter mesh that is encased in a highly durable stainless steel mesh. The filter element allows for less restriction while maintaining proper filtration properties. The mesh is captured in a urethane liner that is very stable at high temperatures and holds its shape to allow for a proper seal at all times. Each set consists of 2 small and 2 larger filters that fit perfectly inside the OEM filter cartridges.
CARBON AIR INTAKES
The final carbon components of this system are the front air intakes, essential for directing ambient air towards the filters.
The scoops are designed for maximum efficiency in directing incoming air into the stock duct openings. Many aftermarket scoops have a large flat area that is nearly perpendicular to the incoming air, which is not ideal for directing air into the ducts as the airflow only "hits" this flat area and creates turbulence.
Unlike most aftermarket "scoops", Eventuri scoops are designed to extend from the stock duct openings all the way up to the grilles. To capture as much air as possible, the air intakes are shaped to the same contours as the outer parts of the grilles and then gently channel the ambient air through a continuous curve towards the duct openings.
By forcing ambient air into the airbox, heat absorption is reduced and inlet air temperatures are also reduced.
