With this system, we sought to ensure excellent sound performance for a vehicle whose greatest flaw is its sound. Performance of this level requires an adequate sound component. With this system, we sought to ensure excellent sound performance for a vehicle whose greatest flaw is its sound. Performance of this level requires an adequate sound component. Our catback exhaust system is made entirely of 309 stainless steel, hand-polished, and consists of an unsilenced centre pipe and a pair of silenced tailpipes equipped with pneumatically controlled (vacuum) valves.
Thanks to a design based on reverse engineering, we are able to create a line optimized in terms of dimensions and exhaust flows. We start with a laser scan of the car's original exhaust line and then create the CAD model. From this model, we obtain the dimensions and dimensions that are useful to us. We then go on to create our CAD project and the first prototypes.
Thanks to this process, we are able to maintain the original backpressure values while improving acoustic performance and performance.
This exhaust system is equipped with our CES-3 valve control unit, which allows for the management of 3 different operating modes. Our valve opening system is based on the backpressure values read in the exhaust line. Based on this value and the mode selected (via a special remote control), the exhaust line varies its behavior. The modes are:
– CRUISE
This mode is designed for everyday use of the car. For example, for commuting or for a family trip. The valves open when there is a backpressure of 150 mbar. This means that you are asking the engine for a lot of power and you are pressing the accelerator.
– SPORT
The operation is similar to Cruise, except that the valves open at a value of 80 mbar, which means they open much more often. This mode was designed for trips with friends, trips to the hills or mountain passes.
– OPEN
As the name suggests, this is the “open” mode that allows the car to express 100% of its sound potential. In this mode the valves remain always open.
SOUND TEST VALUES:
Original exhaust system with open valves: 108 dba
Capristo exhaust system with open valves: 112.6 dba
Exhaust system and downpipe (200 cells) with open valves: 119 dba
With closed valves the sound is the same as the standard car in terms of volume and sound.
Our products are specifically developed for Mercedes AMG A 45, A 45 S, CLA 45, CLA 45 S, GLA 45 and GLA 45 S series W177 produced in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
