Reduced heat or temperatures in the engine compartment improve performance. Cooler air boxes result in cooler air temperatures for the engine to "breathe." In turn, denser air produces more horsepower.

Because the outside of the hot, blinding exhaust is shielded from the surrounding environment, the shields also reduce the possibility of fires that can sometimes occur when fluids/oil come into contact with the exhaust system.

Heat shields can also be attached to the headers without having to remove them.

Headers CANNOT be installed and operated WITHOUT these heat shields.
