The Eventuri 2.0 TFSi Generation 4 system uses our patented carbon fiber housings that provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo pipe. Not just another air filter cone with a heat shield, but a unique design that recalls the Venturi effect.

The MK8 Golf GTi/R intake is a complete redesign of the stock intake right up to the turbo inlet. Taking inspiration from our RS3 intake, we have maximised the use of available space to create an intake that can accommodate all power levels, from stock to high output hybrid or full frame turbos. This intake system has been developed to deliver the highest possible flow whilst maintaining the lowest possible intake temperatures. Every component has been designed to provide a smooth, free-flowing path for the turbo. The restrictive stock 73mm diameter inlet pipe is replaced with a larger 94mm diameter inlet pipe. The filter itself has an external diameter of 192mm or 7.5" with a filtration surface area of over 110,000mm^2. The patented venturi housing has been designed to provide the maximum internal volume possible for the space available in the Golf's engine bay and provides laminar flow to the turbo pipe. Finally, the duct seals the filter opening on the front end panel, but it is not limited to just the stock inlet feed. We have raised the front of the duct to create an extra opening behind the bonnet which equates to an extra 7" diameter hole for the intake to draw from. The resulting system can significantly reduce the flow from the stock airbox whilst keeping intake temperatures to a minimum thanks to the sealed design.

The Eventuri MK8 Golf R/Gti intake system is made up of a number of purpose-built components manufactured to the highest standards. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fibre with no fibreglass, which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain a smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:

Each intake system consists of:

  • Patented carbon fibre venturi filter housing with 94mm outlet
  • Custom high flow dry cone filter
  • Carbon fibre inlet duct - full width
  • 94mm inlet diameter silicone hose
  • Machined breather adapter (Golf R only)
  • Secondary breather filter and bracket (Golf GTi US spec)
  • Laser cut stainless steel brackets

Dyno Testing

Our MK8 Golf intake has been independently tested by renowned UK tuner, Regal Autosport. They tested a stock MK8 Golf R and also a Tuning Box. The tests were carried out on the same day back to back, first testing the stock airbox and then fitting the Eventuri. No other modifications have been made to the car. The first graph shows the results using a stock map. As you can see there is a measurable gain across the rev range up to 12bhp. This gain even on a stock car is noticeable on the road with improved throttle response and quicker acceleration. The second graph shows the results when using a tuning box which increases the flow demand from the intake system. The tuning box was used on both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake with no modifications between tests. With the increased flow demand the stock airbox has more restriction to the turbo as can be seen by the significant gain with the Eventuri fitted. We now have increased gains across the rev range up to 20bhp and 30Nm which is even more noticeable on the road. We expect the gains to be even greater at higher states of tune.

Flow Bench Testing

We conducted flow tests using a Superflow SF-1020 to measure the maximum possible flow rate at a pressure drop of 28" H2O. The tests were carried out on the same day under controlled conditions using the same test jig for each system. We tested our complete intake system against the stock airbox system for both the R and GTi variants. The results show an increase in maximum flow rate of a further 72% for the Golf R system and a further 42% for the GTi system. It is important to note that this has been achieved with a sealed intake system, so intake temperatures will also be kept to a minimum.

PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

The MK8 Golf's housing is made up of a bespoke high flow filter, an aluminium pod, a laser cut bracket and the carbon pod itself. The carbon pod wraps around the reverse mounted filter and gently shapes the airflow through to the intake pipes. This gentle reduction in cross-sectional area is reminiscent of the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack - below is a diagram showing how our patented design compares to a conventional intake system. Further details can be read on the Technology page.

CUSTOM CONE FILTER

To achieve the highest possible flow rate, we have designed a new filter element to make the most of the available space in the engine compartment. This new filter has an outside diameter of 192mm or 7.6" and when flow tested with a housing using a 4" opening is capable of flowing up to 900 CFM at 28" H2O. The filter media is ISO tested to ensure the filtration is in line with OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is constructed with our signature flow cones to aid in the Venturi housing principle.

DUCT IN CARBON

The duct directs ambient air from the blanking panel area into the filter housing. It fits inside the OEM blanking panel area and transitions seamlessly into the circular shape of the filter housing. To ensure a good seal against engine bay heat, it also has a flexible rubber lip around the opening that presses against the filter housings creating the desired seal but allowing the housing to move with the engine. Since it was designed to accommodate high horsepower builds, we found that the stock openings in the blanking panel could cause restriction when high flow was called for. We then raised the top surface of the duct and created an opening above the end panel that is able to draw cold air from behind the closed hood. This extra opening equates to a hole over 7" in diameter and completely de-limits the stock cold air supply. The duct was designed to have the maximum internal volume possible within the given engine bay geometry. This ensures that the filter housing is able to vacuum with minimal restriction.

SILICONE TURBO HOSE

The picture shows the Golf R pipe. The GTi pipe does not have the secondary vent inlet.

Our silicone hose replaces the stock hose at the turbo inlet. This has been made to fit the diameter outlet on our filter housing at 94mm, which is significantly larger than the stock pipe with a diameter of 73mm. This represents an increase in cross-sectional area of over 60%. The silicone hose maintains this diameter as much as possible and then tapers gently downwards to the stock turbo inlet. >

The complete system comes together to provide an intake that improves on the stock airbox in terms of performance, aesthetics and sound.
