Close collaboration between Akrapovič’s R&D and engineering departments has resulted in an exhaust that is almost identical in specification to the one the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGPMonster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team will race in the FIM Motocross World Championship season 2023. The bespoke design fits within the limited space of the bike and is the largest that the space allows. This allows for greater sound quieting to mitigate the impact on the natural environment, while also facilitating better flow of exhaust gases to exit the combustion chamber with the least possible restriction.

Constructed completely with titanium alloys light and high quality , this system offers a weight saving of 20.4% (0.9 kg) compared to the standard exhaust. The different thicknesses in the sections ensure perfect protection and reduce the overall weight, allowing the additional strength created by the design to provide greater resilience in the most demanding conditions. It offers greater response across the rev range, with increased power and torque levelsof an additional 1.8kW (2.4PS) at 10,600rpm on the in-house test bench and 1.5Nm at 10,500rpm in consecutive tests as recorded against a standard production exhaust system.

A new profiled surface, which influences the deep, full sound, and an integrated resonance chamber for optimum performance and to match the sound of an Akrapovič exhaust, are all designed to ensure that this system meets the FIM noise limits for competition. A special technique has been used to imprint the logo on the surface: there is no sticker or engraving, but a new way of affixing the logo. Developed for use exclusively on closed-circuit racetracks, installation is a simple plug-and-play affair, with no remapping required..
